Primary Purpose: Provides police support such as patrolling and inspecting assigned campus to protect all students, personnel, and visitors from physical harm and prevent loss due to theft or vandalism.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Commit to, honor, and enforce applicable Board policy, mission and vision of the District and Police Department.
2. Patrol district buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
3. Conduct patrol inspections of doors, windows and gates to determine they are secure.
4. Confront unauthorized persons on school property for questioning, routes or detains them, or calls police for assistance, according to emergency plan.
5. Sound fire signal to alert fire department and school personnel in event of fire and assists in extinguishing fire.
6. Report any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems.
7. Patrol all school properties to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles; checks cars for parking authorization; determines if vehicles are parked in restricted areas; checks exterior lighting and emergency access routes.
8. Makes written reports of security violations and makes daily reports.
9. Provide optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community, members and any other stakeholders of the district.
10. Help provide traffic control at athletic events, school functions, school crossing or openings or at any other time as assigned.
11. Provide protection to or escort district personnel as needed.
12. Operate vehicle, if assigned, and all equipment.
13. Testify in court as needed.
Records, Reports, and Correspondence 1. Prepare correspondence, forms, reports, manuals, and presentations for the curriculum and instruction office assigned and other department staff members. 2. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required including but not limited to affidavits for arrest, incident reports, and activity reports.
Communication 1. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with coworkers, supervisor, District officials and employees, vendors, and outside agencies and organizations. 2. Provide outstanding customer service.
Other 1. Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information when received and distributed to appropriate designees as directed by the Police Chief. 2. Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovations related to position. 3. Maintain good judgment and decision making when dealing with supervisor, co-workers, District officials and employees, general public, and outside agencies and organizations. 4. Work cooperatively with other police agencies to share information and provide other assistance. 5. Performs other duties as directed by the Chief of Police or designee in charge.

Equipment Used: District vehicle, security equipment, two-way radio, first aid equipment, alarm system and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer, printer, copier, telephone, scanner, and fax machine.
