Plumber Position
Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a skilled and dependable plumber to help maintain and improve critical infrastructure across parks, community centers, and public facilities. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who takes pride in craftsmanship, values job stability, and wants their work to have a positive impact on local communities.
As a Precinct 4 plumber, you'll work on a wide variety of systemsfrom everyday repairs to larger seasonal projectsand collaborate closely with other trades. You'll have steady, predictable work; opportunities to develop your technical skills; and the satisfaction of keeping essential facilities safe, functional, and welcoming for the public.

This position reports to the Manager of Trades Operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, commodes, sinks, faucets, and drain lines.
- Troubleshoot and service outdoor plumbing infrastructure such as drinking fountains, splash pads, and water features.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as winterizing and reactivating plumbing systems across outdoor facilities.
- Respond to urgent facility needs, including water shut-offs, leaks, and flood mitigation during severe weather events.
- Prepare accurate work documentation, including materials used and time spent, to support reporting and compliance.
- Collaborate with electricians, HVAC technicians, general contractors, and other trades to complete multi-disciplinary projects.
- Ensure all work meets local, state, and federal plumbing codes and safety standards.
- Participate in required safety meetings, training, and certification activities.
- Travel to job sites using a personal or county vehicle.
- Mentor and support less experienced crew members and assist with team operations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies or service requests.
- Support departmental operations before, during, and after emergencies or disasters.

Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
- At least three (3) years of hands-on plumbing experience in commercial or industrial environments.
Licensures:
- Must obtain one of the following within one year of hire (if not already held):
- Master Plumber License, or
- Backflow Prevention License
- Current Journeyman Plumber License
- Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.

Preferences:
- Proficiency with plumbing hand tools, power tools, and equipment; strong mechanical aptitude.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Demonstrated honesty, reliability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, changing work environment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in confined or awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
- Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform detailed, precise plumbing tasks safely.
- Duties are performed in a mix of indoor facilities (restrooms, kitchens, community centers) and outdoor environments (parks, splash pads, irrigation systems).
- Regular exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
- Occasional work in confined spaces and areas with dust, dirt, fumes, moisture, or environmental elements.
- Noise levels range from moderate to loud depending on equipment and job site.
