Certification Details BLS Job Details Provide excellent customer service and assist the patient care team by providing casting and medical assistance to licensed providers during patient scheduled clinic visits or patients in the emergency center. Apply casts, splints and perform basic hardware maintenance. Work with patients and families on all aspects of care. Complete documentation meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy and timeliness. Provide education to families regarding cast maintenance and skin care after cast removal. Provide timely communication with the orthopedic team. Manage casting and clinic supplies, update PAR levels when needed and communicate regularly with person ordering supplies. Share responsibility of checking exam room supplies daily. Experienced cast tech with fiberglass and plaster casting experience required. Job Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. 3 years experience doing basic casting, splinting, and hardware maintenance required. Knowledge of basic aseptic technique and familiarity with all orthopedic instrumentation, hardware, equipment and casting/splinting procedures. Knowledge of development stages in pediatric patients, nursing/medical assistant patient care tasks, managed care industry, related medical terminology and customer service concepts. Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer and basic clinic/patient care, office equipment. Demonstrate interpersonal skills, good verbal communication skills, good time management skills and excellent customer service skills. Ability to demonstrate quick decision making and self-initiated work behaviors. Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred. Schedule Information Varies shifts: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM. 8 hours per day. 40 hours per week.
