Technical Requirements

Must-Haves

• Kong experience
• API Gateway knowledge
• Service Mesh understanding
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP, plus exposure to on-prem data centers
• Ability to understand API architecture end-to-end:
  • Databases
  • Microservices
  • AI interaction points

• Broader system architecture knowledge
• Experience supporting cloud migrations
• AI-API integration understanding (important as these will merge over time)

• Recently finished deploying to development environment in AWS (1 of 3 total environments).
• Must follow established governance and compliance policies-not responsible for creating them.
• Organization is shifting from WSO2 to Kong over a 2-year migration plan, aligned with cloud migration timelines.
• Team historically "just managed servers," but APIs are now becoming a strategic capability.
• Prime has purchased nearly all Kong modules, including Kong Connect.
• They've already purchased an AI Gateway for next year and are working with Optura.
