About the Role & Company:

We've partnered with an established Houston-based general contractor to help hire a Project Manager supporting ground-up commercial construction projects across the Greater Houston market. This individual will oversee projects from preconstruction through closeout while collaborating closely with ownership, field teams, subcontractors, and clients throughout the lifecycle of each project.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced commercial environment while helping deliver high-quality projects across a variety of sectors including retail, restaurant/QSR, healthcare/medical, public-sector, and other commercial construction projects.

The right individual will be comfortable managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, client communication, and supporting preconstruction/project planning efforts where needed.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience managing ground-up commercial construction projects with a general contractor
  • Experience across commercial sectors including retail, restaurant/QSR, healthcare/medical, public-sector, or related commercial projects
  • Ability to manage projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and construction operations
  • Experience supporting budgeting, bidding, buyout, or preconstruction efforts is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred (not required)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a team-first mentality

What You'll Do:

Project & Construction Management:

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through turnover and closeout
  • Coordinate schedules, subcontractors, procurement, and project logistics
  • Lead meetings with clients, consultants, field teams, and subcontractors
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to maintain schedule and quality expectations
  • Support project planning, budgeting, and cost tracking efforts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure smooth coordination between office and field operations

Financial & Operational Oversight:

  • Monitor project budgets, forecasting, and reporting
  • Manage subcontractor scopes, contracts, and pay applications
  • Track project costs and assist with change order management
  • Maintain documentation and reporting within project management systems
  • Identify project risks early and help drive proactive solutions

Client & Team Relationships:

  • Serve as a key point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and execution
  • Support internal collaboration across operations, field, and leadership teams
  • Help contribute to a positive, team-oriented company culture

Operational Excellence:

  • Champion safety, quality control, and schedule adherence
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, permits, and company standards
  • Maintain organized project documentation and reporting
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across project operations
