Director of Community Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

  2026-05-06     CrossOver     Houston,TX
Description:

Families who select Alpha have trusted advisors woven into every dimension of their lives. This is the one relationship they've been waiting for.

You'll be the voice they reach for when uncertainty arises, when instinct tells them something needs attention, or when they want to celebrate a milestone with someone who truly understands. You'll develop a depth of knowledge about each family that allows you to foresee their needs before they surface—and you'll bring the judgment, warmth, and composure required to meet those moments with discretion and apparent ease. Over time, your role will extend beyond their child's education. You'll become woven into the way they experience this formative stage of their family's journey.

That level of trust isn't earned through systems. It's built through presence—consistent, daily, unhurried. You'll be on‑site for morning arrivals and afternoon departures, present at evening gatherings that define the culture, and engaged in private conversations that exist outside of scheduled appointments. You'll cultivate a community families take pride in, where connection feels natural and recommendations flow from earned excellence.

Alpha departs from traditional schooling. Students complete core academics in two hours daily via AI‑driven platforms, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical reasoning, and applied projects. No lectures. No filler assignments. Performance in the top 1% nationally. Families who enroll are investing in a vision they believe deeply in—and that belief requires ongoing care.

You'll carry that narrative forward with every family, through every question, for the duration of their enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels draining, this position won't suit you. If it feels like the most compelling dialogue you could be leading, continue reading.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Take ownership of every family relationship on campus—the sustained, evolving connection that ensures parents feel understood, not merely assisted
  • Surface and address concerns proactively, handling them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves and strengthens trust
  • Maintain visible presence during key moments: morning arrivals (7–9am), afternoon departures (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend programming
  • Develop a campus culture with authentic depth—rituals, events, and touchpoints that foster a sense of belonging families will defend
  • Generate parent champions naturally, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that word-of-mouth referrals become inevitable
  • Sustain the dialogue around Alpha's AI-driven model with families weighing screen time questions, external family skepticism, and periodic uncertainty—not only during enrollment but continuously throughout their tenure
  • Recognize when a family may not align with the community and manage that realization with the same care you bring to all interactions—protecting the collective is inseparable from serving it
  • Establish the structures and cadences this position demands in a setting where the framework is still emerging

What You Won't Be Doing

  • Overseeing enrollment—that responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your work commences when families arrive and grows deeper over time
  • Operating from an office—your physical presence in the community defines the role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early starts, late afternoons, and evening programming are integral to the position, not occasional exceptions
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or a complete team—you function with substantial autonomy and create what's required
  • Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role rewards authentic engagement, not procedural adherence

Director Of Community Engagement Key Responsibilities

Serve as the central, trusted relationship in every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, build a community where belonging feels intentional and earned, and establish conditions under which satisfied families naturally become active advocates.

Basic Requirements

  • Currently residing within commuting range of one of these campuses OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (preference given to candidates with established local ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; or Kirkland, WA
  • Legally authorized for U.S. employment without sponsorship requirements
  • 5+ years in a client-facing role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—contexts such as independent school admissions, luxury service sectors, philanthropic advising, or any setting where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal sophistication were as critical as technical competence
  • Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging circumstances with discerning families and exit those moments with strengthened trust
  • Authentic presence and communication approach that builds confidence rapidly with affluent, high-expectation families—credible without appearing rehearsed
  • Direct familiarity with independent, private, or alternative education—through professional experience or as a parent—that provides genuine credibility when families scrutinize the model
  • Authentic conviction in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that belief authentically across years of family engagement, beyond the initial enrollment phase
  • Flexibility for non-traditional hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening events 2–3 times monthly, and periodic weekend activities

Nice-to-have Requirements

Outstanding candidates will possess at least one of the following:

  • Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide immediate, organic credibility on campus
  • Independent or private school background with demonstrated success in family retention and community building—beyond simple enrollment metrics
  • History of managing sensitive family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the foundation of sustained trust
  • Talent for designing experiences—gatherings, traditions, environments—that cultivate a sense of belonging people actively protect
  • Background in startup or early-stage organizations where you built infrastructure from scratch and maintained composure amid rapid change
