Description:

Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer – Midstream / Pipeline Facilities

Duration: 3 month contract, likely to extend

Location: Spring, Tx

Overview:

We're looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support the design and execution of midstream oil & gas projects, including pipelines, compressor stations, and related facilities. This role will take ownership of mechanical design deliverables while working closely with cross-functional teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design efforts for pipeline and facility projects (natural gas, liquids, compressor/pump stations)
  • Perform and review engineering calculations (pipe stress/strength, gas velocity, pressure drop, relief sizing)
  • Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, and site layouts
  • Prepare and review material requisitions, equipment specifications, and technical datasheets
  • Ensure all deliverables meet applicable codes, client specs, and quality standards
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, project management, construction)
  • Interface directly with clients during design reviews (30/60/90%) and project updates
  • Support field activities including site visits, inspections, and data collection
  • Mentor junior engineers and support technical development within the team

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience within midstream oil & gas (pipelines, gathering systems, or facilities)
  • Strong experience with pipeline/facility design and engineering calculations
  • Proficiency with CAESAR II
  • Working knowledge of industry standards (DOT, API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, AGA)
  • Experience developing and reviewing engineering deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, layouts)
  • Ability to operate in a client-facing environment and lead technical discussions

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
