Job Description

The Reservoir Engineer/Advisor will provide guidance and technical expertise to support the Reservoir Leadership Team in achieving desired performance objectives and maintaining high technical standards. This role requires an experienced professional in reservoir simulation who can perform and guide detailed simulation studies, develop plans and programs for reservoir management, and support reservoir engineers in establishing and implementing plans that meet engineering requirements. The position involves performing depletion plan assessments, leading peer reviews, developing economic models, and executing forecasting scenarios for development planning. The ideal candidate will mentor less experienced engineers, collaborate across multiple disciplines, and deliver comprehensive technical documentation and presentations to management, partners, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Reservoir Engineering & Simulation
  • Provide guidance to support the Reservoir Leadership Team in achieving desired performance objectives
  • Support and advise Reservoir Leadership Team to aid in maintaining high technical standards
  • Develop plans and programs as required by the Reservoir Management team
  • Guide and support reservoir engineers to establish and implement plans that meet reservoir engineering requirements
  • Perform and guide detailed reservoir simulation studies
  • Perform and guide simulation and other studies to evaluate various depletion schemes and to investigate technical issues
  • Perform all related studies necessary to support simulation studies including Pressure, Volume, Temperature (PVT), inflow/outflow, relative permeability, Special Core Analysis Laboratory (SCAL) and other evaluations
  • Perform depletion plan assessments to support asset acquisition evaluations
  • Lead and/or participate in Peer Reviews to ensure high technical standards are maintained

Economic Modeling & Analysis

  • Develop, extend, and maintain custom economic models in ComboCurve tailored to unconventional resource development
  • Build fiscal and cost structures aligned with corporate standards (CAPEX, OPEX, A&D, facility costs, price decks, taxes, royalties, working interest, net revenue interest, etc.)
  • Ensure accuracy of economic assumptions and alignment with corporate value-assurance processes
  • Run type curve, well-level, and pad-level forecasts for various development scenarios
  • Execute full-cycle economics for development planning: base case, sensitivities, price scenarios, timing changes, and inventory-based forecasts
  • Review existing ComboCurve models and enhance workflows for improved transparency, modularity, and repeatability
  • Develop automated or semi-automated structures for repeating economic runs across multiple assets or scenarios
  • Troubleshoot model logic, data issues, and calculation discrepancies

Project Support & Collaboration

  • Develop project-specific strategies with the Project Team to address identified risks and challenges
  • Support risk assessments and studies as defined in the Project Risk Management Plan, and ensure results are addressed as relevant field work is executed
  • Support uncertainty analysis studies and value of information assessments for data acquisition plans
  • Provide necessary input to drilling, facilities, and other groups as required to support projects
  • Work closely with engineers, planners, and business analyst advisors to translate development schedules into economic results while ensuring alignment with corporate guidance and established best practices
  • Collaborate with reservoir engineering, planning, geology, and finance to ensure integrated and aligned assumptions
  • Support ad-hoc economic requests, sensitivities, and rapid-turn modeling for leadership

Documentation & Communication

  • Document results in a comprehensive and understandable format, both in written and graphic forms
  • Provide timely and focused updates of results/plans to management/partners/others
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations
  • Communicate findings through clear visualizations, summary reports, and presentations

Additional Duties

  • Mentor less experienced reservoir engineers in performing simulation and other studies
  • Share safety-related Lessons Learned across project(s) and within the company
  • May facilitate Reservoir Team meetings
  • May be assigned other services/studies by the Reservoir Leadership Team
  • Provide regulatory compliance support as required
  • Maintain a high degree of ethical conduct
  • Ability to work in environment with changing priorities

Skills and Qualifications

Education

  • University degree or equivalent

Experience

  • Demonstrated work experience in Reservoir Engineering positions in Oil & Gas Industry

Technical Skills

  • Exceptional knowledge of reservoir engineering fundamentals and technical skills
  • Experienced in building, running and evaluating dynamic models to evaluate various technical issues
  • Knowledge of how to conduct reservoir simulation studies to address required issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Capability to identify issues and solutions and conduct reservoir evaluations independently
  • Working knowledge of reservoir management practices, processes, and expectations
  • Proficient in use of computers and programs such as Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ComboCurve economic modeling software

Job Details

  • Location: Houston, TX
  • Pay: $110/hr
  • Schedule: M-F
