Description:

Caturus Energy and Commonwealth LNG are combined within the Caturus platform founded by Kimmeridge – an alternative asset manager focused on the energy sector – to support the overarching goal of providing low-cost energy on demand with the lowest carbon footprint.

Kimmeridge's vision in creating Caturus is to build the only independent, fully integrated natural gas and LNG export platform in the U.S. through a combination of its upstream operations under Caturus Energy, formerly Kimmeridge Texas Gas, and via Commonwealth LNG, a 9.5 million tonnes per annum liquefied natural gas export terminal in southwestern Louisiana on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The combined entities are committed to delivering responsibly sourced, low-emission fuel to domestic and international markets.

Caturus is seeking a motivated candidate that is passionate about energy analytics and has demonstrated experience in fundamental analysis of natural gas and energy markets.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include the development and leadership of the Fundamental Analytics team which will be responsible for fundamental market modeling and analysis to support commercial daily operations and infrastructure development opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and knowledge on how to best leverage internal and external analytics functions and manage a team of analysts.
  • Manage ongoing daily, weekly, and monthly market reporting and analysis activities.
  • Build and develop systems to transform raw data into actionable business insights.
  • Provide guidance to team of analysts to develop tools and dashboards to track miscellaneous market trends, including but not limited to:
  • Forecasting for various energy fundamentals including supply, demand, and price with a focus on North America.
  • Provide competitive business intelligence, including analysis of competitors' activities and potential impact on the business.
  • Provide market intelligence, including analysis of industry, legislative and regulatory developments, and potential impact on the business.
  • Produce and internally publish regular systematic assessments of all relevant fundamentals where the business has exposure or is considering new business developments.
  • Prepare concise reports, presentations, and briefings for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Monitor energy infrastructure additions in the US as well as focused areas across the globe.
  • Consume and synthesize news, data, and information sources to lead discussions with staff regarding fundamental forecast modeling to arrive at defensible conclusions.
  • Generate ideas for new areas of research and analysis to support the commercial and business development team.
  • Respond timely to ad-hoc analysis requests from internal teams.
  • Provide robust support for Merger and Acquisition analytics, asset valuation, and market intel and perspective.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes.
  • Accomplish performance goals in line with the company's long-term and short-term objectives.
  • Demonstrate and enforce the highest professional integrity, ethics, and safety discipline.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce a culture of regulatory compliance.
  • Foster a positive open work environment, systems approaches and disciplined execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Manage personnel related matters, including annual performance reviews including third party feedback, providing support and completing administrative paperwork per company guidelines.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as identified and defined.
  • Accomplishment of performance goals in line with the company's long-term and short-term objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Certificates, and Licenses

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Advanced Degree preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in energy market analysis/fundamentals required.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of energy market concepts, including supply and demand and pricing mechanisms, and their interaction with geopolitics and public policy.
  • Proven track record of being able to transform fundamental research into salient, actionable analysis/advice.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools (Python, R, SQL) and data visualization tools (Power BI); familiarity with business intelligence tools, etc.
  • Advanced skill level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel (priority), Power BI (priority) Word, Access, PowerPoint (Priority) and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop effective, easy to understand, and informative presentation materials within PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing dynamic workflows and multiple projects.
  • Clearly convey your research orally, in writing, and through data visualization.
  • Ability to summarize complex results concisely, cleanly, and quickly.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; effectively able to convey complex data insights to executive and / or non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
  • Problem solving aptitude.
  • Ability to successfully complete multiple issues under strict deadlines and willingness to delegate to and mentor employees.
