We are seeking a proven Industrial Automation & Controls – Area Manager to lead and scale a high-growth automation business backed by an immediate backlog. The organization is evolving from a specialized installation partner into a full-stack Industrial Systems Integrator delivering PLC, SCADA, and BAS solutions.
This is a high-visibility, build-and-lead role for a commercially driven leader with deep Texas market relationships, someone who can open doors, win work quickly, and architect a scalable, high-margin professional services operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Market Expansion
- Leverage an established rolodex of industrial relationships to secure new contracts immediately
- Drive new business across Houston and the broader Texas industrial market
- Expand existing accounts and develop long-term strategic customer relationships
Operational & Area Leadership
- Oversee execution of a $6M San Antonio project, ensuring schedule, margin, and client satisfaction
- Build and execute a roadmap to expand internal engineering, programming, and systems integration capabilities
- Own area-level performance with accountability for revenue, margin, and growth
Strategic Development
- Lead the transition into a full-service industrial automation and controls platform
- Identify and strengthen strategic partnerships with end users, EPCs, and technology providers
- Establish scalable processes to support sustainable growth
Team Building & Talent Development
- Recruit, lead, and mentor a specialized team of controls technicians, programmers, and field engineers
- Build a high-performance culture centered on safety, execution excellence, and client delivery
Position Requirements
- Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements. Each job will require specific hours of operation.
- May need to work weekends if business needs require
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
Skills and Qualifications
- Market Presence
- 10+ years of experience in Houston/Texas industrial automation
- Proven ability to bring in work quickly through existing client and partner relationships
- Technical Expertise
- Deep hands-on experience in PLC and/or SCADA environments
- Direct exposure to data centers, mission-critical facilities, or similar high-reliability environments
- Strong understanding of industrial controls systems, integration, and project execution
- Business & Leadership Acumen
- Experience leading a business unit, area, or P&L
- Strong commercial mindset with a focus on high-margin professional services
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
