Presidio is seeking a Firewall Engineer in Richmond, VA that possesses both technical expertise and team leadership. Over the past year, the team has managed a high volume of operational work, including change tasks, incidents, and service requests. This is a hybrid position. The ideal candidate will take ownership of firewall operations while helping elevate the team's overall capabilities. This is a great opportunity for a mid-level engineer ready to step into a more impactful role with leadership responsibilities while remaining hands-on in a high-demand network security environment. This person will be joining a small team of three others in addition to collaborating with Security, Infrastructure, Application and Network Teams. Participating in an on-call rotation is required. Responsibilities: Lead day-to-day firewall operations and support activities Provide guidance and training to junior engineers Design and build lab environments for testing and development Strengthen Palo Alto firewall support and implement best practices Support incident response, troubleshooting, and change management processes Required Skills: Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls VPN technologies (B2B and GlobalProtect) Network security troubleshooting Incident and change management Initiatives: Enhancing Palo Alto firewall support Building and maintaining independent lab environments Duration: Contract to Hire
