Staff Accountant Houston, TX

Mustang Cat, the authorized Caterpillar dealer for Southeast Texas, is actively hiring a Staff Accountant to support financial operations and reporting for our Houston-based Accounting team. This role focuses on used machinery sales, inventory reconciliation, and financial analysis for internal departments and partnership entities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform costing and inventory reconciliations for Used Machinery sales
• Report and file Heavy Equipment Inventory Tax (HEIT) and Motor Vehicle Inventory Tax (MVIT) monthly
• Reconcile Accounts Receivable, Notes Receivable, and Bad Debt Allowance accounts
• Maintain and reconcile Miscellaneous Accruals
• Handle accounting for select partnership entities
• Prepare monthly gross profit and expense analysis for Used Machinery and partnership divisions
• Assist with general ledger, internal reporting, and month-end close activities
• Support financial analysis and audit preparation as needed

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BBA preferred)
• Must provide college/university transcripts

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
• Strong reconciliation and financial analysis abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Must have experience with XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and data analysis
• Experience with QuickBooks is a plus
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
