JOB SUMMARY A Mechanical Engineer II is sought for a 1-year contract with potential for extension, to be based 100% on-site in Painted Post, NY. This role is responsible for the design and support of process equipment start-up and debugging. The engineer will collaborate with a multi-functional team, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and machine design in the design, production, operation, and use of machinery. The position requires a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Technology with 3+ years of manufacturing experience, specifically in web-conveyance and thermal equipment design, as well as proficiency in structural and thermal FEA modeling. Key Responsibilities • Design process equipment, lead procurement of equipment, and oversee and participate in assembly and installation of equipment. • Work with a multi-functional team including process, mechanical, electrical, controls, metrology, facilities, IT, and operations. • Apply mechanical principles encompassed in mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and machine design. • Manage and own all phases of equipment design, from problem statement and conceptualization to detail design and drawing package. • Work with machine shops and manage the procurement phase of custom equipment. Required Qualifications • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Technology. • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing with a focus on web-conveyance fundamentals and proficiency in roll-to-roll web-conveyance system design. • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing with a focus on thermal equipment fundamentals and proficiency in custom thermal equipment design. • Proficiency in structural and thermal FEA modeling. • Experience with mechanical equipment engineering, design, install, start-up, and debug in an early-stage development environment. • Proficiency with SolidWorks and EPDM Vault. • Good written and oral communication skills. • Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams. • Comfort working with minimal direction and adapting to evolving requirements. • Ability to independently determine and develop approaches to solutions. • Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (electrical, controls, process, etc.). Education: Bachelors Degree
