JOB SUMMARY: The HVAC Controls Technician is responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining building automation and HVAC control systems. This role focuses on ensuring efficient system performance, resolving technical issues, and delivering high-quality service to customers while supporting building operations. Key Responsibilities: Perform system commissioning using configuration and commissioning tools Load and configure controller software for HVAC systems Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues Conduct system diagnostics from controllers to field devices (sensors, actuators) Calibrate systems using electronic test equipment Respond to service and warranty calls Document commissioning activities and system changes Communicate progress and issues with customers and internal teams Provide recommendations to improve system efficiency and performance Support basic leadership activities on job sites Maintain safety standards and complete required documentation Required Qualifications: Associate degree or vocational training in electronics, mechanical systems, HVAC, or related field + 3 years experience OR 4+ years of relevant HVAC/system servicing experience Knowledge of HVAC controls systems and building automation systems (BAS) Experience with system installation, commissioning, and servicing techniques Basic programming knowledge related to HVAC/control systems Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Good communication skills (technical & non-technical interaction) Basic PC and software skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with facility management systems Exposure to building automation platforms Field service or commissioning experience Certifications: HVAC or Building Automation certifications (preferred) Education: Associate's Degree
