Develop fluid sub-system designs and structural package/skids while adhering to industry codes and standards. Create designs for fluid accessory components and support redesign efforts that enhance reliability and performance. Deliver engineering drawings and documentation including P&ID, General Arrangement Drawings, and work instructions. Perform essential engineering calculations such as pressure drop calculations and pump/motor sizing. Collaborate with designers on detailed designs like pipe assemblies and air duct assemblies. Ensure timely delivery of requirements, risk reviews, designs, drawings, and bills of material. Support new spacecraft development efforts Conduct proof of principle development on packaging technology Participate in in-house new process technology development Innovate technologies that enable the miniaturization of development systems and increase the efficiency of process development Leading the development of technology platforms primarily in flexible packaging Identify and assist in development of new business opportunities Identify one improvement to development process or program Manufacturing through process development and fault investigation Support pricing estimates and proposal of project development strategies Ensure continuous development of department's capabilities and competencies Taking a lead role in the development of an efficient, reliable scale-up methodology that can be consistently applied during process development Maintain a current laboratory notebook with scientific rigor to meet project needs for process development Assist in the development of lean thinking programs and participate in the implementation of programs throughout the facility Processed within client space and access to all development platforms Assemble cross-functional project teams to manage product development projects Implement algorithms and software platforms for prototyping and commercial product development Directed toward the development of active pharmaceutical ingredients and high purity ingredients Maintain strong communication channels with global business stakeholders and development partners Work with external consortiums, research groups and process engineering firms of interest to shepherd process development through various stage gates and lead development of viable solutions Implement state of the art science and technology with respect to media development, cell line development, primary recovery, and bioreactor systems while exploiting miniaturization Critical Information Shift starts at 7:30 AM; requires travel of 8-10% domestically and internationally; potential for full-time conversion. Education/Licenses Needed Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required; 10+ years of experience in mechanical systems design preferred.
