Job Title: On-Site Service Engineer – AI Data Center Duration: 09+ Months Contract Work location: Childress, TX Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Occasional shift flexibility & on-call support required Employment Type: Contract (Extension Possible) Contract-to-Hire: Possible Job Overview: Hiring an On-Site Service Engineer (OSE) to support enterprise data center environments, including next-generation AI infrastructure. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role focused on maintaining uptime, resolving hardware issues, and delivering high-quality on-site support. Key Responsibilities: Provide on-site support for Dell servers and data center systems Perform hardware maintenance (builds, swaps, replacements, firmware updates) Troubleshoot issues across hardware, firmware, and OS layers Execute preventive and reactive maintenance Collaborate with internal teams and customers during service events Document all activities and contribute to knowledge sharing Participate in on-call rotation and extended support coverage Required Skills & Experience: 3–5+ years in data center, server support, or field service roles Hands-on experience with server components (CPU, memory, GPU, power supply) Experience with server builds, swaps, and deployments Familiarity with Linux or similar OS Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently in a customer-facing environment Willingness to learn AI and emerging technologies Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree in IT or related field (or equivalent experience) Dell or similar certifications (preferred, not required) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Flexible for travel (if needed), shifts, and on-call work Comfortable commuting daily Open to shifts and on-call Technical Expertise: Server hardware handling (CPU, GPU, memory, PSU replacements) Server builds, swaps, and deployments Experience with Linux PC building knowledge Ability to follow Plan of Action (POA) Continuous learning mindset Physically capable of job demands (Nice-to-have) Water-cooled server experience Documentation: Strong documentation practices Real-time and detailed reporting experience Communication & Team Fit Strong accountability and ownership Ability to prioritize critical tasks Performs well in fast-paced environments Demonstrates initiative and consistency
