abip CPAs & Advisors is seeking a highly analytical and technology-driven Tax Operations Specialist to support the efficiency, reporting, and data integrity of our tax department. This role will be responsible for day-to-day data cleansing, validation, and process improvement initiatives that enhance tax reporting accuracy and ensure stakeholder needs are met.

The ideal candidate will serve as a technical bridge between tax operations, leadership, and internal stakeholders by leveraging tax software platforms such as CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, and related systems to extract data, ensure compliance, generate meaningful insights, and improve workflows through automation. Excellent Excel capabilities and software proficiency more important than specific CCH experience.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Data & Reporting

• Perform daily data cleansing, validation, and maintenance of tax-related information across systems.
• Extract, organize, and analyze numeric and operational data from CCH Axcess and other software.
• Prepare supporting Excel schedules, reconciliations, and management reports.
• Generate recurring and ad hoc financial, operational, and tax-related reports for leadership.
• Perform variance analysis and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate tax workflows using available technology tools.
• Optimize utilization of tax software platforms and internal reporting tools.
• Improve data accuracy, consistency, and reporting efficiency across the department.
• Support implementation of best practices for tax operations and workflow management.

Leadership Support & Strategic Analytics

• Prepare dashboards, presentations, and analytics for senior leadership regarding tax performance, operational metrics, and tax risk management.
• Translate complex tax data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Support decision-making through meaningful reporting and KPI development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as the internal liaison between tax professionals, operations, IT, and leadership.
• Assist with system updates, reporting enhancements, and user support as needed.
• Collaborate with tax teams to understand reporting needs and operational pain points.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in tax operations, tax technology, public accounting operations, or financial reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (PivotTables, lookups, formulas, data manipulation).
• Strong experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, CCH Engagement, or similar tax software, preferred.
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.

Preferred

• Experience in public accounting or CPA firm environment, preferred.
• Experience with automation tools such as Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or workflow automation platforms.
• Familiarity with tax return workflows, deadlines, and compliance processes.
• Experience building dashboards and executive presentations.
