Mechanical Engineer I

Job Summary/Objective:

The mechanical engineer will take a project from the conceptual stage through completion, factoring in budgetary and operational considerations. Performs initial and ongoing design reviews. Identifies process deficiencies and develops solutions to improve. Works with Sales and Operations to develop new prototypes; heavily involved in the quoting process of potential orders/inquiries.

Provide cost and lead time estimates as well as technical information for customers in the form of quotes and project proposals.
Must possess strong programming skills
Design high-current bus, insulators, advanced switches, press welds, and other components.
Translate the design information into manufacturing information in the form of routings via ERP, models and drawings via SolidWorks, and various niche software applications.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

Required Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering, mechanical preferred.

2. Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment and/or College graduate with engineering co-op experience. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks, 2D & 3D Design.

3. Project Management experience

4. ERP System Proficiency -Syteline or SAP is preferred.

5. Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

6. Handling customer proposals; performing quotes and pricing

Must-Haves
