About the Opportunity

Solaris Energy is seeking an Air Quality Permitting Manager that will lead air permitting strategies and execution across the organization, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while enabling timely project development and operations. This role will serve as the subject matter expert on air quality permitting and act as a key partner to engineering, operations, legal, and commercial teams.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage all aspects of air permitting, including major and minor source permits, NSR/PSD, Title V, and state-specific permitting requirements
  • Develop and execute permitting strategies to support new projects, expansions, and operational modifications
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies (e.g., TCEQ, EPA)
  • Oversee preparation, review, and submission of air permit applications, emissions calculations, and supporting documentation
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with air permits and applicable regulations
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess impact to operations
  • Lead internal and external audits related to air compliance and permitting
  • Manage and mentor internal staff and/or external consultants
  • Partner cross-functionally to integrate permitting timelines into project schedules

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in air permitting within energy, oil & gas, power, or industrial sectors
  • Deep knowledge of Clean Air Act, NSR/PSD, and Title V permitting across multiple jurisdictions
  • Proven experience managing complex permitting projects
  • Strong technical expertise in emissions calculations and regulatory analyses
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills
