A global biotech reagent company is expanding into South Central US and needs a scientist who genuinely enjoys talking to customers as much as working at the bench.
Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, a publicly listed biotechnology company with operations across the US, Europe, and China. They supply recombinant proteins, antibodies, and critical reagents to some of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies. Their products are embedded in drug development workflows from target discovery through commercial production. This is a new territory role, which means you are helping build something, not inheriting someone else's patch.
You will be the technical face of this company across the South Central US region, with occasional travel to East Canada. The territory is new. That means real ownership from day one. You will report into the field applications team and work closely with the sales organization to close deals, retain customers, and develop the region.
Travel runs about 20 to 30% in normal periods and peaks at 30 to 40% during busy season. You will be home most of the time, working remotely out of the greater Houston area.
• Respond to technical inquiries from customers via email, phone, chat, and in-person visits, covering products used in antibody development, cell and gene therapy, CAR-T, ADC, and related areas
• Diagnose application issues and provide hands-on troubleshooting support for assay development, protein characterization, and binding kinetics workflows
• Travel to customer sites for product demonstrations and technical presentations at accounts and trade shows
• Identify gaps in technical documentation and recommend improvements to website content, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides
• Summarize emerging application trends from the field and communicate them back to product and marketing teams
• Lead internal technical training sessions for sales and support colleagues
• Build long-term relationships with scientists and procurement contacts across the territory
The previous two candidates for this role came from academia and ultimately took research positions. This is a customer-facing role. Your motivation to work with customers must be genuine, not a fallback. If your long-term goal is to get back to the bench full-time, this is not the right fit. If you are energized by solving problems for scientists and want to build a territory, this role has real upside.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in immunology, protein chemistry, cell biology, antibody development, or a closely related life science field
• 3 or more years of hands-on laboratory experience with relevant techniques (ELISA, SPR, flow cytometry, cell-based assays, or similar)
• Clear, genuine motivation for customer-facing work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must live within 30 minutes of Houston, TX
• Experience in applied science settings such as CDx, clinical research, biopharmaceutical QC, or customer-facing lab support
• Background in organoids, CAR-T, or ADC platforms
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
