Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Purpose of the Role

The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing all production operations within the assigned building, with a primary focus on safety, production performance, and workforce development. This role ensures that manufacturing activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company standards, strategic objectives, and leadership direction.

The Building Director serves as the operational leader for production personnel and High Performance Team Leads, driving accountability, maintaining a high-performance culture, and ensuring consistent execution of production schedules, safety programs, and training initiatives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Production & Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure alignment with company goals, schedules, and quality standards
  • Develop, maintain, and execute an accurate and efficient production schedule using Global Shop Solutions and supporting tools
  • Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) and optimize labor efficiency across all departments within the building
  • Maintain the ability to step into and operate any production department when necessary to support continuity
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, efficiency, and overall operational performance

  1. Safety & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary safety authority for the production building
  • Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Oversee safety training, incident reporting, and corrective actions
  • Conduct and manage monthly safety and housekeeping audits, storm drain checks, and related compliance activities
  • Partner with the Process Control Manager and Lead Director to continuously improve safety programs and outcomes

  1. Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop High Performance Team Leads and production personnel
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline through training, mentorship, and succession planning
  • Ensure employees are properly trained, cross-trained, and performing to established standards
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and high performance throughout the building

  1. Inventory & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Support inventory management efforts to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing excess
  • Partner with the Quality and Inventory Manager to ensure inventory accuracy and control
  • Collaborate with maintenance to ensure equipment uptime and operational readiness
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, production, and shipping to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction

  1. Reporting & Accountability

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators including on-time delivery, labor efficiency, and incident rates
  • Review daily production reports (e.g., orders due, schedule adherence) and drive accountability through Team Leads
  • Ensure completion of required audits, logs, and compliance documentation
  • Align all activities with the strategic direction and expectations set by the Lead Director

  1. Facility Oversight & Customer Support

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility at all times
  • Ensure the building is prepared for customer visits and tours
  • Occasionally support customer interactions by providing operational insight and addressing questions

  1. Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as a problem solver and decision-maker in addressing operational challenges
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in the coordination of activities or working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven business abilities, service, quality implementation and organizational skills with an emphasis on procedure development
  • The skill set for coordinating the complexities of operating across multiple manufacturing units
  • Experience and knowledge of the chain of command
  • A great communicator and team builder
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
  • Experience with welding, grinding, or basic metalworking
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
