The Harris County Public Defenders Office is committed to providing client-centered, high-quality representation to indigent clients. We seek attorneys dedicated to advancing justice through thoughtful advocacy and collaboration. The Assistant Public Defender will work closely with felony and misdemeanor trial attorneys. This includes assisting with case strategy development by attending case review meetings, assisting with research of complex legal issues and jury charge preparation. The attorney will spend the majority of the day at the courthouse to be available to answer specific legal questions that arise during trial and provide assistance in court as needed. In addition to assisting trial attorneys, the attorney will represent a limited number of clients throughout the direct appeal and discretionary review stages of the appellate process.
