Product Configuration & Engineering Systems Manager
We're seeking a driven, systems-minded engineering leader who is energized by building structure, creating clarity, and turning complex engineering work into scalable, repeatable solutions. Our team of employee co-owners values curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement and we're committed to putting those qualities to work on solutions that directly impact our customers and our business.
As AWC's Product Configuration & Engineering Systems Manager you will have the opportunity to build and own the engineering systems backbone of a growing industrial business. You will define how configurable solutions are created, quoted, and executed across the enterprise directly impacting revenue, speed, and customer experience. Enterprise visibility, working across Engineering, Proposals, Supply Chain, and Operations, with a direct line of sight to how your work improves commercial outcomes.
How You'll Make an Impact
Build the Engineering Systems Backbone
- Own and evolve how configurable solutions are structured, governed, and executed across the business
- Transform tribal knowledge into repeatable standards, automation logic, and reusable engineering content
- Establish a scalable foundation for configure + price + quote applications (CPQ), product configuration, and engineering workflows
Configuration & Deployment Strategy
- Own configurator governance across Flow Control/Over-Pressure Protection, Instrumentation, and PLC/VFD
- Define option logic, rules, and constraints that improve quote completeness and reduce rework
- Partner with Application Engineering and Proposals to improve solution quality and option discipline
Engineering Standards & Libraries
- Establish and govern engineering libraries, standard assemblies, and product attributes
- Ensure engineering content is clear, consistent, and usable from proposal through execution
- Increase reuse of approved content to improve speed and reduce unnecessary customization
Product Lifecycle Workflow & Execution
- Develop and deploy engineering workflow logic that supports release readiness, approval routing, and handoffs
- Partner with Product Data Management & Lifecycle (PDML) and IT to ensure engineering outputs are complete and actionable downstream
- Identify and eliminate breakdowns between engineering, quoting, and operations
Deliver Measurable Commercial Outcomes
- Improve quote accuracy, proposal completeness, and execution readiness
- Reduce cycle time from proposal to order fulfillment
- Increase engineering productivity through standardization and automation
- Translate engineering systems into visible business results: speed, quality, and revenue impact
Lead & Develop a High-Impact Team
- Lead a team of CPQ Automation Engineers, Library Engineering, and PLM Workflow Engineering
- Create a clear operating cadence focused on standards, reuse, responsiveness, and results
- Coach the team to think beyond engineering tasks and toward business outcomes and customer impact
What You Bring, Required Experience
- 10+ years in industrial engineering, systems engineering, product engineering, or related environments
- 5+ years leading engineering teams, systems, or centers of excellence
- Proven experience with CPQ, product attributes, engineering standards, or PLM workflow ownership
- Experience connecting engineering outputs to proposals, quotes, and operational execution
- Hands-on experience with PLM/CAD/CAM systems
Leadership Traits
- Structured and practical, able to simplify complex systems without losing rigor
- Strong communicator across Engineering, Proposals, Supply Chain, Operations, and IT
- Biased toward ownership, repeatability, and measurable business impact
- Thinks beyond engineering tasks to enterprise and commercial outcomes
Why This Role Is Different
- Build vs. Maintain: You're not stepping into a fully built system; you're shaping how it should work
- Enterprise Visibility: Work across the business with direct exposure to senior leadership and key functions
- Commercial Impact: Your work directly impacts revenue, speed, and customer experience, not just internal efficiency
- Ownership: One clear owner of configurator logic, engineering standards, and workflow readiness across the enterprise (focus on process)
- Growth Opportunity: Opportunity to scale systems, influence enterprise strategy, and grow with the business
The Rewards
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
- 401(k) Match
- Competitive Pay
- Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance
- Employer Paid Life Insurance
- Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay
- Career Development Opportunities
