Pay Rate: $50 – $55/hr (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

Summary

Applies engineering principles to design and install gas distribution systems in a safe, efficient, and practical manner. Responsible for managing projects during field installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design, calculations, estimates, and coordination for gas distribution system installations
  • Analyze load, pressure requirements, future growth, and other variables during the design process
  • Oversee pipeline layout, sizing, equipment specifications, and economic justifications
  • Create engineering drawings and communicate design details to field personnel and contractors
  • Conduct distribution system pressure and cathodic protection studies
  • Coordinate with external agencies, utilities, and vendors for materials, supplies, and project alignment
  • Prepare economic justifications and capital investment reports, including budgets and completion reports
  • Review work orders and cost data to ensure compliance with plans and construction standards
  • Update unit cost estimates as needed
  • Support system operations and troubleshoot technical issues

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline from an accredited institution

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in utility design or project construction design

Technical Skills

  • Engineering design & analysis (gas distribution systems)
  • Pipeline design, pressure analysis & cathodic protection
  • Knowledge of DOT CFR 192 regulations
  • Proficiency in tools: SAP (EDS & FIN), MicroStation, Stoner, ArcInfo
  • Strong understanding of cost estimation & economic evaluation

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Budgeting, cost control, and reporting
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
