CNC Lathe Machinist

The role involves working on various size parts used in the production of overhead cranes. This is a job shop position focusing on custom orders and some production runs. The candidate will work with carbon steel and some alloys, running a CNC Lathe to make large drum coils for overhead cranes. The position requires operating multiple machines simultaneously, with a preference for candidates with programming knowledge for the CNC Mazak Lathe. The shift is from 7 am to 3:30 pm.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and manage CNC lathe machines to produce parts for overhead cranes.
  • Work with carbon steel and alloy materials.
  • Run multiple machines at once, including CNC and manual machines.
  • Program CNC Mazak Lathe using Mazatrol controls.
  • Read blueprints and create custom parts as per specifications.
  • Participate in cross-training for manual machine operations as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in machining on a CNC lathe.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Ability to operate using Mazatrol controls.
  • Experience in a high-volume job shop environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with mills is preferred.
  • Manual machining experience is a plus.

Work Environment

The work is conducted in a clean machine shop, separate from the company that builds overhead cranes. The facility is not climate-controlled. The team includes a leadman and two other machinists.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77060.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
