Project Controls Manager

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

General Project Administration

  • Assist with project set-up to include, estimate and constructability reviews, incorporation of project into ERP and Control systems.
  • Lead and ensure utilization of project controls systems on projects and ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Ensure and support utilization of existing document control process for the project including the production and issuance of RFIs, FCOs (Change Management), submittals, correspondence, and meeting notes.
  • Lead project teams in making contractual notices in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conduct and issue all site reports for the Project Controls department internal and external including company standard weekly reports, PF variance explanation, schedule variance explanation, quantity curves, critical path schedule, cost report, etc.
  • Ensure all subcontractor reports are submitted, reviewed, accepted, and incorporated into Austin reporting structure.
  • Maintain positive client relationship, ensuring all client needs stay met relative to project controls.
  • Various other administrative tasks.

Planning/Scheduling

  • Ensure and support utilization of existing planning process for the project including production of IWPs, alignment of quantities and man hours between estimate, IWPs, schedule and tracking software in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure and support building and maintaining of project schedules within Primavera P6 including incorporation of IWPs, resource and man hour loading, alignment with estimate and quantity tracking in accordance with company scheduling standard.
  • Ensure various schedules are updated and issued per company policy including critical path, 2-week look-ahead, schedule variance, total schedule, etc.

Cost Performance

  • Ensure and support all cost management maintained across ERP and Control systems including alignment with estimate and planning IWPs, use of accurate cost codes across all labor and MES, and validation of daily and weekly inputs.
  • Conduct and ensure all month close-out efforts including forecasting within ERP, validation of current and projected margins, and production and delivery of monthly JSR/PSR with executive management.
  • Analyze job cost statements and report on areas of poor cost performance or other variances.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field plus 6 years project experience or equivalent work experience (8 years project experience).
  • Experience

    • Minimum of 6 years of project experience that include multiple aspects of estimating, planning, cost management, scheduling (P6 is a must have), quantity tracking, risk management, change management, month close out, reporting, and project close-out.
    • Prior experience with or be able to be trained in company software (e.g., ERP system [CMiC], Planning/Control system [InEight], Scheduling [P6], Excel, Word, etc.)
    • Administrative competency in Lump Sum and Reimbursable projects
