IT Business Analyst
Reporting to the Director of IT Governance, Office of Information Technology (OIT), the Business Analyst will be primarily supporting new technology and process initiatives for the college. The Business Analyst's role is primarily to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders for various initiatives, including internal IT process advancement, software application development / implementation (web, mobile, desktop, vendor) and Infrastructure expansion / support (network, servers, cloud, security, storage, middleware). This includes interviewing stakeholders, gathering and compiling user requirements to understand the technology and process solutions needed, and collaborating with other team members to identify potential solutions. The business analyst will also be asked to lead test strategy, planning and execution on projects, ensuring the solution implemented meets the needs of our stakeholders. Non-project based work is required from time to time, to include process analysis / mapping, requirements gathering and development of various artifacts.
Job Duties
- Collaborates with project stakeholders (sponsor, owner, pm, etc.) in determining project scope and vision.
- Conducts interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
- Identifies and establishes scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis.
- Tracks requirement burn-down during project execution, helping to ensure completeness of delivered solution.
- Works with stakeholders to gather and prioritize requirements.
- Works with project teams to analyze high level requirements and help determine implementation timeline.
- Partners with product owners, developers, QA teams, infrastructure architects, engineers, vendors, and business stakeholders to understand current and future-state needs.
- Develops test strategy, plan and oversees execution for necessary project test phases (unit, integrated, UAT, etc.).
- Works with stakeholders, end users, and process owners to understand business processes and analyze current state.
- Analyzes and verifies requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.
- Develops and utilizes standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications.
- Translates business process and user needs into system requirements, infrastructure requirements and functional specifications in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers / project team.
- Develops prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on the user requirements.
- Creates process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in an academic setting.
- Experience as part of a project team working in Waterfall methodology.
- Experience working with or as part of an IT organization.
- Experience with ServiceNow is a plus.
