Maintenance Technician Steel Fabrication Facility

Pay Rate: $20 - $30/hr DOE

Location: Houston, TX 77028

Schedule: 7am to 4pm, plus significant OT

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to oversee the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of our industrial steel fabrication equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of specialized machinery like CNC plasma cutters, press brakes, rolling mills, overhead cranes and general facility maintenance to minimize production downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections and service on fabrication equipment, including saws, press brakes, drill lines, and conveyors.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic malfunctions.
• Electrical Systems: Maintain 480V 3-phase systems, motor controls, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Fabrication: Use welding tools and cutting tools to fabricate replacement parts or perform on-the-spot structural repairs.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA regulations, including strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Record Keeping: Utilize Computerized Maintenance Managment Systems (CMMS) to track work orders, parts inventory, and repair histories.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 25 years in industrial maintenance, preferably within a metal fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
• Physical Demands: Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights for crane repairs, and stand for long shifts in industrial environments.
• Education: High school diploma or GED; technical certification in a related trade is highly preferred.
• Certifications: Forklift and overhead crane operation certification is required.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of 5S guidelines for shop organization.
• Experience with robotic automation or parametric control systems.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $20.00 - $30.00 Per Hour
