Job Title: Nuclear Designer – Mechanical / Civil / ElectricalLocation: Atlanta, GeorgiaType: ContractCompensation: $0.00Contractor Work Model: Remote (Travel)Position SummarySystem One is seeking a hands‑on Nuclear Designer with experience in Mechanical, Civil/Structural, or Electrical disciplines to support both operating nuclear facilities and next‑generation SMR projects .This is a true design‑focused role , responsible for developing high‑quality drawings and models based on engineering requirements, field conditions, and plant configuration. Candidates must be comfortable performing field walkdowns, validating as‑built conditions, and translating real‑world data into accurate design deliverables within a highly regulated environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and revise design drawings and 3D models based on engineering inputs and field dataTranslate engineering requirements into constructible design packagesUtilize tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation (commercial nuclear), and SolidWorks (SMR projects)Perform field walkdowns to verify dimensions, routing, and equipment interfacesValidate as‑built conditions and resolve discrepancies between design and fieldCollaborate with engineering, construction, and plant teams to resolve design issuesSupport plant modifications, upgrades, and design changesEnsure compliance with nuclear QA programs, codes, and standardsMaintain configuration control and support document management processesRequired QualificationsAssociate's degree or higher in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical, or related field5+ years of design experience in nuclear or highly regulated industriesProficiency with:AutoCADMicroStationSolidWorksAbility to interpret engineering intent and produce accurate designsHands‑on experience with field walkdowns and plant validationWillingness to travel to project sites as requiredStrong attention to detail and ability to work in a procedure‑driven, QA environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting commercial nuclear plants or SMR projectsFamiliarity with codes and standards (ASME, IEEE, ACI, AISC)Experience with design modifications and plant upgradesKnowledge of plant systems, layouts, and constructabilityExperience working under NQA‑1 or similar QA programsPrior or active unescorted nuclear accessWork EnvironmentCombination of design office work and field executionWork performed at operating nuclear plants, construction sites, or design centersMust be able to pass background checks, drug screening, and nuclear access requirementsAdditional NotesCandidates must be true designers (not just CAD operators) with the ability to support the full design modification processStrong understanding of the nuclear design change process is critical, including standard design change workflowsOpportunities available across multiple major utilities including Duke, Constellation, Entergy, NextEra, and SouthernAbout System OneSystem One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
