Locomotive Maintenance Technician

Hours and Pay

Pay Rate: $28.00 $30.00 per hour

Schedule: Full-time (field-based responsibilities included)

Location: Houston, TX, and surrounding areas

Daily Responsibilities

Perform scheduled and unscheduled locomotive maintenance and repair on diesel and electrical systems

Conduct fueling, sanding, and daily inspections to ensure operational readiness

Execute preventive maintenance procedures, including cleaning, oiling, and system adjustments

Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems

Travel locally to perform field service maintenance using company vehicles

Complete visual inspections of locomotives and maintenance equipment

Maintain accurate maintenance records and logbooks, including work order completion

Collaborate with team members and communicate equipment issues and operational updates

Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards

Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with special projects as needed

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

Minimum 1 year of experience in diesel engine or electrical repair

Strong knowledge of basic mechanics and machine testing procedures

Understanding of equipment maintenance and repair operations

Ability to use mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Effective communication and organizational skills

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Ability to work independently and manage maintenance schedules and priorities
