WORKING CONDITIONS This position may involve considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on an occasional basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are occasional exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires an Associate's degree (two-year program) in a computer science, instrumentation, or electronics discipline or the equivalent, such as certification in a technical/specialty program of up to three years in duration. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One year of experience in the design, installation, operation and/or maintenance of a computerized data network or industrial control system is required. Relevant experience (as described above) may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. LICENSE REQUIREMENT May be required to obtain a valid class "C" or higher Texas Water or Wastewater Plant Operator's license within one year of employment.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in maintaining medium/low voltage systems, knowledge of electrical controls, or that hold an active Texas Electrical Journeyman License. **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
