Description:

Job Summary:
Winding of electric motors through inserting copper wire coils and connecting the jumpers/lead cables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Basic level interpretation of motor specifications.
  • (BOM and Winding Instruction Sheet)
  • Inserter: Basic level inserting insulation and insulated copper wire coils into motor stator cores, according to specifications.
  • Pre-form coil end turns with Rubber Mallet/forming peddles trim phase Separators
Connector:
  • Basic level pre-Form end turns connect jumpers/ lead cable (Solder, Hydraulic or Air Crimper) Hand lace winding end turn.
  • Inspect to ensure compliance with Quality Control criteria, and perform associated tasks, forming coils as needed.
  • Provide help when needed in other manufacturing areas and cross trains in other positions within the Coil
  • Maintain work area and related tools clean and organized daily basis (5S)
  • Learn at least 2-3 different tasks within the winding department by the end of 2 years.
  • Weekly Productivity: 60-70%+
  • Tools/Equip: Workbench, coil holder, crane, wire cutters, lacing needle, lead-splice crimpers, tape measure, stator lifting device, hammer (mallet), forming paddles, pliers, scissors, hoist, work bench roller, Gloves, winding spatulas, coil protection sheets (Cardboard and magnetic sheets), Lower top stick tooling (made polish Metal) Hooks to hold coils inside the s-core, torch to solder connections, ruler, tape measure Forming end turn gage, Flow Test Meter
Education: High school diploma
Experience:
  • 0-4 years' experience with motor winding
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of electrical instruments or devices in the operation of electrical motors, generators, power transmission or automatic equipment preferred.
Mechanical ability: Good hand and finger coordination. Ability to study, analyze, and interpret specification work sheets (BOM and drawings) with trainer.
Work Environment: Temperature controlled Coil Shop.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing 8-10hrs per day 5-6 days per week, lift, pull, push, grasp, repetitive motions, hammering end turn coils with Hammer (mallet), Use of Hand /Fingers to lace coils end, Use of thumb, index and middle finger to guide wires inside the slot every coil, Grinder to polish metal and Forming tooling as needed.
