Position Summary

The Industrial Painter / Blaster is responsible for preparing and coating industrial surfaces using abrasive blasting equipment and industrial-grade coatings. This role ensures surfaces are properly cleaned, prepped, and painted according to project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform abrasive blasting (sandblasting, grit blasting, etc.) to clean and prepare metal and industrial surfaces
  • Apply industrial coatings including primers, epoxies, urethanes, and specialty coatings
  • Operate and maintain spray equipment, blast pots, hoses, and related tools
  • Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications
  • Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure proper surface profile and cleanliness
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures, including proper PPE use
  • Read and interpret blueprints, coating specifications, and work orders
  • Perform quality checks and touch-ups as needed
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, or in varying environmental conditions as required
Qualifications
  • 1-3+ years of experience in industrial blasting and painting preferred
  • Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards preferred
  • Ability to operate airless and conventional spray equipment
  • Experience working in industrial, construction, refinery, or plant environments
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Valid driver's license (if required for travel)
Preferred Certifications (if applicable)
  • SSPC / AMPP Coating Application Specialist
  • Confined Space Certification
  • Fall Protection Certification
  • OSHA 10 or 30
Work Environment
  • Outdoor and indoor industrial job sites
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and varying weather conditions
  • Use of respirators and protective equipment required
