Job Title: Family Office Accountant

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: CFO / Controller / Company Leadership

Location: On-Site

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented accounting professional to manage and track all aspects of an individual's private investment portfolio. This role includes investment accounting, capital activity tracking, reporting, tax documentation support, and assisting in portfolio performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Investment Tracking & Reporting
  • Monitor all investment activity including purchases, sales, valuations, and performance.
  • Track and reconcile capital calls, return of capital, and distributions from funds or direct investments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of invested capital and outstanding commitments.
  • Capital Call and Distribution Management
    • Track capital calls and ensure timely funding.
    • Record and reconcile distributions, return of capital, and income received.
    • Prepare cash flow forecasts to plan for capital calls and investment inflows.
  • Performance and Return Analysis
    • Analyze investment returns including IRR, capital gains, income, and total return.
    • Report on unrealized and realized gains/losses.
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly investment performance reports.
  • Interest and Income Reconciliation
    • Record and reconcile interest, dividends, and other income streams.
    • Ensure proper classification for tax and accounting purposes.
  • Tax & Reporting Support
    • Collect and organize year-end tax documents (e.g., K-1s, 1099s, 1042-S, Schedule K-3s).
    • Track charitable contributions and provide detailed summaries for tax filings.
    • Coordinate with external tax accountants, ensuring timely delivery of necessary documents and responding to ad hoc data requests.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 1-2 years of experience in investment accounting, fund administration, family office, or private client services.
    • Strong knowledge of investment types (private equity, real assets, marketable securities).
    • Proficiency in Excel; experience with portfolio accounting software is a plus.
    • Familiarity with U.S. tax forms relevant to investments (K-1, 1099, etc.).
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
