As a member of the BakerRipley Community Schools team, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking Charter department dedicated to accountability, community development, and education advocacy to advance BakerRipley's impact in the Houston region.

Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of School Administration, the Lead Principal is responsible for serving as the lead educational administrator at BakerRipley Community Schools, unifying multiple program levels, and providing curricular and instructional leadership to maximize student achievement.

Expected Positive Outcomes

The principal is the lead instructional leader on campus and is responsible for cultural, academic, and enrollment targets, including but not limited to:

  • Achieving an overall campus rating of an A or B on the TEA accountability system
  • 95% average daily attendance for the school year
  • Campus earns 80/50/20 on all STAAR Assessments
  • 100% full enrollment by the first day of school
  • 80% staff retention
  • Driving family and community engagement

Essential Functions

  • Implement the mission and vision for BakerRipley Community Schools
  • Implement the strategic plan with the leadership team
  • Lead character development initiatives
  • Support teachers in designing and implementing activities to promote character development
  • Maintain a positive school culture with appropriate distinctions by program level
  • Build supportive relationships with the school community
  • Facilitate communication between faculty and administration
  • Encourage collaboration among faculty, staff, parents, and students to support school goals
  • Foster a climate of innovation
  • Resolve problems among teachers, students, and parents
  • Participate in open enrollment meetings and school events
  • Represent BakerRipley Community Schools to various stakeholders
  • Serve as a building administrator for after-school events
  • Ensure development and implementation of PK-8 curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Develop standards and benchmarks for the curriculum
  • Lead vertical teaming initiatives throughout PK-8
  • Use data to monitor student progress and lead instructional improvements
  • Stay current with research-based practices to improve achievement
  • Oversee leadership training for teachers and students as appropriate
  • Lead and supervise direct reports
  • Set high expectations for staff
  • Ensure philosophical alignment with staff to achieve school objectives
  • Participate in hiring and evaluations of staff
  • Represent BakerRipley as an ambassador
  • Participate in relevant district and leadership training events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.

Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.

Experience

Required: Minimum of 3 years of teaching and administrative experience.

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred: Relevant licenses and certifications.
