Job Description

CGI is looking for a Cloud Native Engineer who will be responsible for the deployment and support of our client's cloud AWS ecosystem. This workload will include managing, planning, architecting, and monitoring of cloud systems as a Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). Once the applications are deployed, day-to-day support of the applications will also remain the responsibility of the engineer.

This position is based out of Houston.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  1. Designing, planning, sizing, and deploying Applications on the AWS cloud.
  2. Migrating on-premises applications of the organization to the cloud.
  3. Identifying potential bottlenecks in applications' performance through appropriate troubleshooting.
  4. Strategizing a recovery plan to compensate for possible downtime or failure scenarios.
  5. Maintaining data integrity by implementing proper access control for cloud services.
  6. Identifying the best practices of cloud architecture to support applications.
  7. Using programming knowledge like bash, python, PowerShell, etc., to write deployment automations for server-less applications.
  8. Automating Subsurface Application workflows to AWS using pipelines.
  9. Understanding the application life cycle and utilizing APIs.
  10. Identifying and using appropriate cloud services like SAML Ping Identity, DNS, Network, S3 technology, etc., to support applications on the cloud.
  11. IT service management and support for the global Technical Data Management (TDM) end-user community. Understanding of key cloud technologies based on AWS.
  12. Act as an interface between customers and Cloud infrastructure support groups.
  13. Plan and execute in Cloud backend ever greening activities (release management & deployment, security patches, application upgrades).
  14. Onboarding (technical, support model, finance) of new projects and functionality into the operational service.
  15. Contribute to successful IT project delivery within agreed time and budget.
  16. Communicate changes and influence stakeholders to align on Shell Cloud and IT strategy.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  1. Understanding cloud native tools like Kubernetes, GitHub, and Terraform (Mandatory).
  2. Deployments using Terraform and Kubernetes (Mandatory).
  3. Excellent understanding of AWS and its components (Mandatory).
  4. Certification on AWS Cloud Architect Professional is highly preferable.
  5. Expert in Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL, Python, Shell programming (Mandatory).
  6. A good knowledge of the Linux and Windows Server operating systems, including commands (Mandatory).
  7. Expert in Cloud IT architecture design and concepts (Mandatory).

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $74,600- $165,300.
