Your role and responsibilities
Mission Statement: Oversees the operational aspects of a local unit (s), encompassing the full scope of Operations, including project management and control, project engineering, manufacturing, production engineering, maintenance, procurement, quality, continuous improvement, logistics, and planning and fulfillment, or a part of that. Ensures strict adherence within the operations with respect to policies and required health, safety, and integrity standards. Main Accountabilities: • Responsible for developing business action plans for the unit(s), aligned with business area/division/product group strategy and targets. • Monitors plan implementation and tracks any deviations for corrective action. • Prepares annual budget, oversees progress, and determines measures to address cost-related issues as necessary, to manage operations within the allocated budget and resources. • Develops programs, projects, goals, and metrics to lead the organization to the highest level of operational performance while optimizing working capital throughout Operations. • Ensures that the organization takes into account an overall value chain perspective to meet customer expectations as per agreed quality, service levels, and lead time. • Ensures a thorough understanding and fosters a culture of continuous improvement behaviors, methodology, and processes within the organization. • Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements plans to ensure people and equipment safety. • Provides support to Sales staff to improve their understanding of customer requirements, enabling them to identify potential constraints and proposes solutions from an operational point of view. LICENSE TO OPERATE / CORE VALUES • Maintains compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while monitoring and reporting progress and results. • Ensures all staff (under scope) understand ABB's core values and group safety and integrity standards and act accordingly. • Implements and ensures compliance with the ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies, and processes in their assigned area. • Ensures adherence to all internal and statutory regulations and policies pertaining to the teams in scope. • Ensures integrity and compliance with ABB values and ethics in all activities across all teams in scope. • Accountable for the health and safety of all employees and contractors for the teams in scope, and continuous improvement in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) processes and integrity performance. COLLABORATION / LEADERSHIP • Creates and maintains a positive work environment for ABB. • Promotes and enables collaboration in the division, across divisions, business areas, and teams to maximize results for ABB. • Provides guidance to the teams and seeks knowledge for their own development and coaching/mentoring of the teams. • Manages relationships with stakeholders in their own area of responsibility and ensures alignment. • Ensures that their own area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed. • Inspires, guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect reports within HR policies. • Builds effective, competent, and high-performing teams. • Reviews organizational effectiveness and performs competence assessments and continuous skill upgrades.
Qualifications for the role
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, operations management or relevant experience.
* 10+ years of experience in operations management and business leadership.
* Experience in industrial automation, energy, power and water and oil and gas industries.
* Understanding of refinery operations, upstream/downstream processes, and pipeline management.
* Experience in power plant operations (thermal, nuclear, renewable plants)
* Familiarity with ISO standards, environmental regulations, and predictive maintenance technologies.
* Strong strategic planning, problem-solving abilities and operational efficiency.
* Effective communication with stakeholders, government agencies, and technical teams.
* Change management and adaptability in evolving energy markets.
* Budgeting, cost control and financial acumen.
* Experience in managing partnerships.
* Ability to mentor and develop teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
* Proven expertise in process optimization, asset management, and regulatory compliance.
* Familiar with HSE regulations, API standards, and asset integrity management.
* US Citizen or work authorization to perform work within the US is required.
